Scenes From a Shower
copyright 2000

The bed was cold and lonely

He got up to start his day

Even though he was two hours early

He stretched

Reaching high into the air

His long, lean body giving

Him a cat like appearance

He ran his long tan fingers

Over his bare and hairless

Chest

He sighed heavily

He walked into the kitchen to

Start the coffee

After getting a howl from the

Cat

He sauntered into the bathroom

He reached into the shower

And turned on the water

First the hot, then the cold

Letting them blend to the

Most comfortable mixture

Stepping in he let the water

Cascade off his body

He reached for the soap

And a washcloth

He began to wash his body

First his left arm, them his right

He moved to the chest using small

Circles

As he moved down his body he

Sighed again

He reached for the brush and

Scrubbed his back using

Strong, broad strokes

Until his back was red

He then moved to his legs

Giving each one the same

Attention

He leans back and wets his hair

Lathers then rinses

He can't understand why he's so tired

He leans against the wall.

Soon the sound of soft snoring

Joins with the water running down the drain

He jolts awake when the water turns cold

Wrapping a towel around his slender hips

He wipes off the mirror with his hand

He smiles at his reflection

He shaves, gently laughing at the faces he makes.

He towels off his face and returns to the bedroom

He looks towards the bed longing for his

Bed-mate to come home.

He leaves to begin his day at work.
